Senior cats usually get the short end of the stick when it comes to being adopted, but when the Cat Distribution System steps in, well, all bets are off. So we hope you enjoy this tale of unexpected outcomes in feline adoption.

As you can tell from the many stories on Reddit's r/cats subreddit, senior cats stand little chance of finding a home when and if they make it to a shelter. Often leaving many of them to stay living stray in order to avoid an end to life that likely involves many hours in a small cage and the tears of technicians who wished there were another way. And who can blame them?

So it is extra heartwarming to hear about a cat rescue story in which a sweet senior catto manages to find someone and with the support of the CDS no less. Giving this cat hope that his final years will be enjoyable and worthy of the proud feline that he has become. His past might be made up of disappointments and hoomans who have disappeared, but his future is now full of love and family.

    He is a fully intact male (idk why I didn't look for myself but he's so fluffy and matted | was scared to feel around and violate his privacy) and has some broken teeth.

  • Well, this has to be the work of the Cat Distribution System, the serendipity alone of this couple contemplating getting a cat to help contain their mouse problem and then an expert mouse hunter turning up on their doorstep asking for love and lodgings is simply too coincidental no? Just the mere arrival and introduction of a cat to complete strangers is an uncommon occurrence, so for this to have happened, we can only chalk it up to the CDS doing what it does best, connecting the cats and people who need each other.

  • These CDS cases can be quite dicey as these are no ordinary cats that are brought in front of potential families. These are felines who have seen a thing or two, they have walked their many miles in the outdoors, slept in decrepit conditions and fought their way tooth and nail to get to where they are. Often leaving them in a pretty banged up state, much like Church. And in these tales of CDS adoption it is this road to recovery which ultimately bonds the cat and pawrents. Setting them up for a life of love, trust and connection.
